The Scoop on Veneers
Perhaps you’ve heard a little about veneers in the news or you have heard it’s a common procedure for celebrities who want the perfect smile. Veneers are in fact a rising trend in cosmetic dentistry, and they aren’t just for the rich and famous.
What exactly are veneers?
Essentially, veneers are very thin porcelain covers that are permanently bonded to your teeth. They look and feel like your natural teeth and are customized just for you.
How can veneers improve my smile?
Most patients who decide to get veneers want to fix more than one problem area of their smile. Patients with uneven, jagged, crowded, gapped, or permanently stained teeth are candidates for the procedure. Veneers are used to provide the appearance of uniformity.
How long do veneers last?
If you treat your veneers as your natural teeth and take care of them properly, there is no expiration date. Our team will provide information on how to extend the life of your new smile with proper dental care.
What happens during the procedure?
After you and Dr. Greenfield have decided that veneers are for you, he will take customized molds of your teeth. These molds will be sent to an experienced dental laboratory technician who will create your veneers. When they are ready to be placed on your teeth, you will visit Dr. Greenfield again. He will prepare your natural teeth for the bonding process by cleaning and polishing them. The veneers will then be placed on your teeth and bonded by dental cement. Dr. Greenfield will adjust the shade and placement of your veneers to your desired specifications.
I’m interested in veneers, what should I do next?
Schedule a consultation with Dr. Brad Greenfield. He can discuss the procedure in more detail and provide his assessment on how best to improve your smile. Veneers are not always the best fit for your cosmetic dentistry needs, so he may suggest other cosmetic service that he believes will get the results you want to achieve.
